Hoyer (MD-5) released a video message to constituents on the Maryland Health Connection online enrollment, which opened yesterday, a day earlier than anticipated, and continues through February 15, 2015. Marylanders who want to be covered on January 1 must sign up for health insurance coverage by December 18. I\u2019m Congressman Steny Hoyer with an important message about health insurance coverage for Marylanders next year.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cStarting November 19, in the Fifth District and across Maryland, individuals, families, and small business owners can log on to www.marylandhealthconnection.gov to browse health insurance plans and enroll for coverage for 2015.\u00a0\r\n\r\n\t\u201cEven if you already have insurance through the Maryland Health Connection, everyone should visit the site to make sure you get the best deal for yourself and your family \u2013 and to make certain you receive all the assistance for which you are eligible to bring your premium costs down.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cAnd if you have insurance from some other source, it\u2019s still worth it to visit the site and browse the plans that are available to see if there is a higher quality, more affordable plan that\u2019s right for you, your family, or your employees \u2013 and to see if you\u2019re eligible for a tax credit that will lower your cost.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cYou can also use the site to determine whether you or your family members are eligible for Medicaid or the Maryland Children\u2019s Health Program.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cOpen enrollment season lasts until February 15, but if you want to be covered in January you\u2019ll need to sign up by December 18.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cAs a result of the Affordable Care Act, you and your family are now protected against certain forms of discrimination by insurance companies.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cYou can no longer be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cIf you are a woman, you can\u2019t be charged a higher premium than a man for the same level of coverage.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cAnd if you are insured and become sick, your insurer can\u2019t just drop your coverage and can\u2019t impose annual or lifetime limits that leave you to pay out of pocket for the treatment you may need.\u00a0\r\n\r\n\t\u201cSo I encourage you to take a few minutes and visit www.marylandhealthconnection.gov\u00a0 today and explore your options.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cYou don\u2019t have to enter any personal information just to browse plans \u2013 you\u2019ll do that only when you find a plan that\u2019s right for you and decide to enroll. \u00a0\r\n\r\n\t\u201cAgain, to be covered on January 1, you\u2019ll have to enroll by December 18.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cFor those without access to the internet or who prefer not to enroll online, you can get information and sign up by phone at (855) 642-8572.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cThere are also certified navigators who can help you find the best plan and go through the enrollment process.\r\n\r\n\t\u201cAnd my office is always available to help as well.You can visit www.hoyer.house.gov anytime to connect with my staff about this or other questions.\r\n\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n\r\n\t\u201cThanks for watching, and you can get started right now by clicking the link below, which will take you directly to the Maryland Health Connection website.\u201d", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://hoyer.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=25&itemid=2309"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.3294128477573395, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
