In addition, today\u2019s package includes landmark reforms to our mental health system and critical resources to help combat the opioid epidemic in our communities.\r\n\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n\r\n\t\u201cToday\u2019s bipartisan legislation will get rid of Washington\u2019s red-tape to spur advancements in treatments and cures,\u201d said Rep. Hudson.\u201cBy removing barriers in our mental health system, prioritizing the fight against opioid abuse, and transforming the way diseases are treated and cured, it will help people all across the country get the health care they need right when they need it. The health of our community is not a partisan issue, it\u2019s an American issue, and I\u2019m proud of the progress we\u2019re making.\u201d\r\n\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n\r\n\tAs a leader on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. Hudson has been working on meaningful bipartisan solutions to improve the delivery of treatment and cures, reform our nation\u2019s mental health care system, and combat the opioid epidemic in our communities. \u00a0\r\n\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n\r\n\tThe 21st Century Cures Act is an innovative approach to health care reform that will deliver better, faster and safer treatments and cures to diseases that currently lack effective therapies. This bill will help save and improve lives, streamline and modernize regulations, and keep good-paying jobs here in the United States.\r\n\r\n\t\u00a0\r\n\r\n\tIn addition, the mental health reforms included in today\u2019s package are based largely on the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act (H.R. 2646) which passed the House in July by a vote of 422-2.
