Administrator McMahon made the loans available in response to a letter from Gov. Bruce Rauner on Nov. 9, 2017, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA. Previously, the SBA issued a Disaster Declaration for Lake and McHenry Counties with operating centers in Wisconsin only.\n\u201cIllinois residents and businesses have suffered significant loss following the severe storms and flooding in July. I am pleased the SBA responded to Illinois needs and have located outreach centers in Lake County to serve Lake, McHenry and Cook counties,\u201d said Rep. Hultgren. \u201cI encourage 14th District residents who were affected to apply for loans to help rebuild following the devastated July floods.\u201d\nRep. Hultgren previously\u00a0sent a letter to FEMA Administrator Long urging him to assist local efforts\u00a0to conduct damage assessments to help determine how much federal assistance might be available for individuals and small businesses affected by the flooding. Rep. Eligible mitigation improvements may now include a safe room or storm shelter to help protect property and occupants from future damage caused by a similar disaster.\nInterest rates are as low as 3.215 percent for businesses, 2.500 percent for nonprofit organizations, and 1.938\u00a0percent for homeowners and renters with terms up to 30 years.\u00a0 Loan amount and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant\u2019s financial condition.\u00a0\nSurvivors may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA\u2019s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.\nBusinesses and individuals may also obtain information and loan applications by calling the SBA\u2019s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (1-800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing), or by emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
