{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://hurd.house.gov/media-center/in-the-news/senator-john-cornyn-visits-laredo", "Senator John Cornyn Visits Laredo", "2016-12-15", "2016", "2016-12", "Republican", "House", "TX", "Will Hurd", "H001073", "hurd.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "In a few days, President Obama will sign into law\u00a0a bill that will give the city of Laredo the power to fix problems at the ports of entry.\n\u00a0On Thursday afternoon, city and state officials met at the World Trade Bridge to celebrate the passing of the Cross Border Trade Enhancement Act.\nThe bill's main purpose is to help ease congestion for trucks coming in from Mexico and avoid traffic.\nThe bill's approval was announced at the World Trade Bridge with U.S. representatives Henry Cuellar\u00a0and Will Hurd, along with U.S. senator John Cornyn.\nUp until now, cities like Laredo had to turn to the federal government for help in fixing this issues at ports of entries.\nThe Cross Border Trade Enhancement Act will give Laredo the opportunity to search for alternate methods to improve commercial flow.\nCongressman Cuellar says the bill is good news for Laredoans, as the city's commerce is expected to grow by 40 percent in the next five years.\nCuellar also adds that bringing in more jobs and trade to the city can lead to more revenue to the city, giving the mayor more money to city issues.\nCongressman Cuellar says that the bill was passed in just five days, a record he says for bills at the nations capital.\nAdditional agricultural, border security and, inspection related immigration services will be available at ports for a fee.\nThe new bill will also make it easier for donations to be accepted for the construction and maintenance of facilities.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://hurd.house.gov/media-center/in-the-news/senator-john-cornyn-visits-laredo"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.3698060065507889, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
