Congressman Jason Smith (MO-08) released the following statement applauding the award, which his office fought to secure to help support the reconstruction of Perryville High School after a tornado caused catastrophic damage.\n\nCongressman Smith said, \u201cLast year\u2019s tornado completely destroyed Perryville High School, causing students to attend classes in tents and temporary buildings ever since. I saw the destruction firsthand and it was absolutely devastating, but the resilience and solidarity this community showed in the aftermath blew me away. Day after day, neighbors showed up for neighbors to help each other out and make sure no one had to deal with this disaster alone \u2014 that\u2019s what Southeast Missouri is all about.\n\n\u201cI was proud to fight to deliver this funding and ensure this community can rebuild a high school that they\u2019re proud of.
