It is truly devastating that local authorities didn\u2019t cooperate with federal immigration law and that a jury decided to acquit the immigrant who, after illegally reentering our country several times, shot Kate Steinle in San Francisco while walking with her father. Words can\u2019t express how truly appalled I am at this decision.\u00a0\u00a0\n\u201cIt appears the jury was too concerned about being politically correct than delivering justice to an illegal immigrant who murdered an innocent woman. It doesn\u2019t fit with the left\u2019s narrative of open borders and shielding illegal immigrants from federal officials.\n\u201cThese actions reaffirm my belief that we need to fix our broken immigration system and build a wall on our southern border. I also believe the Senate needs to take swift action in passing Kate\u2019s Law which passed the House earlier this summer.
