In total, the seven departments received $834,081.88 in funding.\n\n\u201cOur firefighters and first responders work tirelessly to keep our communities safe,\u201d said Dr. Joyce. \u201cHowever, they are often burdened by a lack of resources that can leave our communities venerable. Through AFG grants, I\u2019m proud to be working alongside our emergency workers to help ensure they have the equipment they need to save and protect the residents of Pennsylvania\u2019s 13th Congressional District.\n\nThe following fire departments in Pennsylvania\u2019s 13th Congressional District recently received grants:\n\nBiglerville Hose and Truck Co 1, Adams County:\n\n$94,633.33 for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBA) and Personal Protective Gear\n\nSaxton Area Volunteer Fire Company, Bedford County:\n\n$85,714.28 for Personal Protective Equipment\n\nGeeseytown Community Fire Company, Blair County:\n\n$197,600 for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBA) and Personal Protective Gear\n\nLakemont Volunteer Fire Company, Blair County:\n\n$16,600 for rescue equipment\n\nCover Hill Volunteer Fire Company, Cambria County:\n\n$125,409.52 for portable radios and turnout gear- worn by firefighters while responding to emergencies\n\nEast Taylor Volunteer Fire Company, Cambria County:\n\n$261,904.76 for a Mini-Pumper Quick Attack Truck\n\nFannett and Metal Fire and Ambulance Company, Franklin County:\n\n$19,224.76 for EMS Training kits and rescue equipment\n\nYoungstown Volunteer Fire Department and Relief Association, Westmoreland County:\n\n$32,995.23 for new fire hoses\n\nThe Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is designed to support both the firefighting and emergency management needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations.
