This plan affects every American, and I have heard from constituents across Metro Atlanta who are worried about what this plan means for them and for our country.\nThis tax plan has roots in\u00a0H. Con. Res. 71, the\u00a0Fiscal Year 2018 budget resolution\u00a0passed by the Congress on October 26. This budget resolution directs Congress\u2019 two tax committees \u2013 the House Ways and Means Committee, on which I serve as a senior Member, and the Senate Finance Committee \u2013 to develop tax legislation. Unfortunately, it also directs other committees to develop\u00a0deep, harmful cuts for key domestic and safety net programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.\nI share my constituents' concerns about ensuring equity and fairness in our tax code.\u00a0This bill does not pass that test.\u00a0Republicans have proposed serious changes to important tax credits and deductions.\nThe\u00a0House Ways and Means Committee\u00a0is scheduled to mark up their tax cut legislation beginning on\u00a0Monday, November 6, at noon.
