Jackson Women's Health Organization, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) delivered remarks on the House Floor in support of Mississippi's pro-life law that is being challenged in the Court. This case centers on a law that bans abortion after 15-weeks and will determine whether or not a ban on pre-viability elective abortions and others like it violate the Constitution.\n\nThe full speech, as prepared for delivery, is below:\n\nMadame Speaker, I ask unanimous consent to address the House for one minute and to revise and extend my remarks.\n\nToday, the United States Supreme Court will hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a major pro-life case that focuses on protecting the unborn, not restricting the rights of women.\n\nInstead of prioritizing the abortion industry, we as a nation should be focused on prioritizing the sanctity of human life.\n\nAs the father to two sons, Guy and Sam, I strongly believe life begins at conception and that an unborn child IS a human life.\n\nThanks to modern medical advancement we know that:\n\nAt 5 weeks, unborn babies have a heartbeat.\n\nAt 10 weeks, unborn babies have developed arms and legs, as well as fingers and toes.\n\nAt 12 weeks, unborn babies feel pain.\n\nAt 15 weeks, unborn babies have a fully developed heart.\n\nThis landmark case gives the Supreme Court a chance to correct the mistake it made nearly 50 years ago and the opportunity to acknowledge that the Constitution DOES PROTECT an unborn child's right to life.\n\nThank you. I yield back.\n\nTo watch the full speech, click here.\n\nU.S. Representative John Rose is currently serving his second term representing Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District and resides in Cookeville with his wife, Chelsea, and their two sons, Guy and Sam.
