Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur(OH-09), announcedthe winners ofthe Ohio 9thCongressional District's firstannual Congressional App Challenge.VictorYavornitzky, Alexander Gee, and JohnJusko'ssoftware application MyHighSchoolJourneywas selected by a panel of judges as the winner of this year's competition.Theirappis designed to organize a student's high school experiences for the college applicationprocess andwas selected as the winner based on its design, creativity, and functionality.CongresswomanKapturlooks forward to meeting the winners andlearningfirst-hand of theskills and expertise that went into the creation of their application.\n\nThe Congressional App Challenge is a district-level competition for high school students tofoster coding skillsand inspire students to pursue careers in computer science. Additional standout apps came from KamrynOhlyof Perkins High School in Sandusky, andYukyeongSeoof Parma Franciscan High School, who placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Impressive submissions were also received from Horizon Science Academy in Lorain, Ohio, and St. Francis De Sales High School in Toledo, Ohio.\n\nVictor, Alexander, and John's submission was impressive in its widespread application for young people around the country who are organizing their high school experience in preparation for undergraduate institutions, community college, or technical schools, said Rep. Kaptur. We had strong submissions and participation from across the district. Developing STEM education must be a priority for our nation, and the Congressional App Challenge is an opportunity to foster critical skills.\n\nRep. Kapturreceived a total of10app submissions from students atfive high schools in Ohio's 9th Congressional Districtinherfirstyear hosting thecompetition.
