Three hundred thirty-one Ohioans have been awarded the Medal of Honor, several of whom hail from communities along US Route 20. With this bill\u2019s passage, I know Northern Ohio \u2014 from Williams to Ashtabula County \u2014 will join the nation in paying tribute to the valor of its Medal of Honor recipients. It was an honor to help lead this legislation. I look forward to it being signed into law by the President.\u201d\n\nRedesignating US Highway 20 \u2014 the longest continuous highway in the United States \u2014 as the \u201cNational Medal of Honor Highway\u201d will honor each state\u2019s current and future Medal of Honor recipients and recipients from any state who travel it. Jacob Parrott of Kenton, Ohio was the first Medal of Honor recipient for his role as a Union soldier in the Civil War operation known as Andrew\u2019s Raid. Ultimately, 22 soldiers who volunteered for the Andrews Raid of April, 1862 were honored including William J. Knight who was captured in the Raid and later escaped. Knight was awarded the Medal of Honor in September, 1863 and lived the rest of his life in Williams County.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T22:13:55Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://kaptur.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/kaptur-led-legislation-renaming-us-route-20-national-medal-honor"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.912591116502881, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
