Below are excerpts of the conversation.\n\nOn Trump\u2019s Reckless War in Iran:\n\n\u201cIt is Americans who are paying the costs for Trump\u2019s reckless war. All it has done is endanger our troops, cost us money for defense, and driven up the cost of gas in an environment where American families are already struggling to provide the basics.\n\n\u201cAnd that\u2019s why Democrats are fighting for a more affordable America. That\u2019s lowering the cost of living. That\u2019s making sure everybody can afford healthcare where and when they need it. And that\u2019s holding corruption and the people who are perpetrating it accountable.\u201d\n\nOn Democrats\u2019 Fight for an Affordable America:\n\n\u201cWe keep the American people the main character. That\u2019s our focus. What they\u2019re going through, what they\u2019re experiencing.\n\n\u201cWhen 60% of families are telling us they can\u2019t afford the basics for their kids, for their aging parents, for themselves, then that is where our focus has to be.\n\n\u201cThat\u2019s why, as I said, we are looking at: How can we bring down the cost of gas by ending this reckless war? How can we bring down the cost of housing and groceries? How can we make sure that we are giving families a chance to find affordable childcare? And small businesses to flourish?\n\n\u201cWe\u2019ve seen a Trump administration that is completely cut off from what the American people need. And Republicans in Congress that are just following the Trump administration\u2019s every whim.\n\n\u201cThis has become a administration that is focused on one thing: making Donald Trump and his family, the very, very wealthiest Americans, and their largest donors, wealthier at the expense of everyone else.\u201d\n\nOn Democrats Taking Back the House in November:\n\n\u201cWhen we win the majority in November, we are still going to have a hostile White House. A White House that has turned its back on the American people and their economic needs. So, we are very clear as Democrats, we will work with anyone who\u2019s working for the American people.\n\n\u201cWe are going to hold the crooks accountable. And so we will work with the White House \u2014 that is going to be part of our job and priorities. But, we are going to do everything we can [and] use every tool we have to make life easier and better for the American people. If the White House will join us in that, that is a win for the American people. If they won\u2019t, we are going to continue to push and do what\u2019s right for working people across this country who have waited far too long for this economy to work for them.\u201d\n\nOn Holding the Crooks Accountable:\n\n\u201cThis is a key piece of our work, and it\u2019s the third prong of what we are talking about in the message we\u2019re delivering and winning on: Reducing the cost of living. Allowing access to affordable healthcare. And making sure that we hold those who have been using this system to line their own pockets accountable. And that includes everyone from Donald Trump to Jared Kushner to anyone else who may have used taxpayer money to line their own pockets.\n\n\u201cThat\u2019s the work we\u2019re going to continue to do. That is why we are winning in races around the country, because the American people understand that it\u2019s our candidates, Democratic candidates, that are fighting for them. And that\u2019s what every single campaign comes down to: Do you see my family?
