Kean, Jr.", "K000398", "kean.house.gov", "kean", "https://kean.house.gov/media/press-releases", "scraper", "Contact: Dan Scharfenberger\n\n(March 21, 2023) WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2014 Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) introduced the \u2018One-Seat-Ride Act\u2019 to direct the Secretary of Transportation to conduct a cost/benefit analysis of a one-seat-ride trip versus a transfer trip option during \u201cpeak hours\u201d on NJ Transit\u2019s Raritan Valley Line. This legislation, H.R. 1547, directs the Secretary of Transportation to conduct a cost/benefit analysis of a one-seat-ride trip versus a transfer trip option during \u201cpeak hours\u201d on NJ Transit\u2019s Raritan Valley Line. The results of this study will then be transmitted to key Congressional Committees. The bill has been referred to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee\u2019s Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials.\n\n\u201cLong, inefficient rush-hour commutes mean lost time at kids' sporting events and missed family dinners for countless households in our area. Local commuters should not have to take multiple trains to access New York City,\u201d Kean said. \u201cThis study will lay out for the first time on a national level, the inefficiencies of multi-stop rides and the effect that has on our economy. I am fighting for one-seat-ride to help build a 21st century transit system that will grow our economy and because New Jersey commuters simply deserve better.\"\n\nCurrently, Raritan Valley Line passengers are forced to change trains at Newark Penn Station to access New York City, and make the same change heading westbound. \u2018One-Seat-Ride\u2019 allows passengers to take one time-efficient train from stations such as Westfield, Somerville, and Lebanon directly into New York City.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T23:30:02Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://kean.house.gov/media/press-releases/kean-introduces-one-seat-ride-act"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8622598834335804, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
