Fred Keller, R-Kreamer, is co-sponsoring a bill the lawmaker claims will reduce prescription drug prices.\nAmericans pay too much for health care and one of the biggest contributors to rising health care costs is the high price of many prescription drugs,he said.As such, I am co-sponsoring the Lower Costs, More Cures Act, bipartisan legislation that will stop skyrocketing prescription drug prices by encouraging innovation and competition, increasing transparency, and promoting more low-cost options.\nKeller said he is hopeful that the legislation will pass because it will bring about meaningful reforms in prescription drug prices.\nWe have talked with many professionals in the district, including doctors, and they said it is a good solution,he said.\nThe bill is in response to a drug prescription bill pushed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which he said will lead tohigher prices, fewer cures and put the country on the road to socialized medicine.\nThat legislation, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, awaits a vote by the House, possibly this week.\nThe bill includes provisions intended to make prescription drugs more affordable for Medicare recipients. A key provision would require the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to negotiate prices for some drugs.\nMeanwhile, the Over-the-Counter Monograph Safety, Innovation, and Reform Act, introduced by U.S. Rep. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, has passed the full Senate.\nCasey, along with U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., introduced the bill to overhaul the way over-the-counter medications are regulated and brought to market.\nThe legislation seeks to streamline the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) regulatory system, ensuring oversight and speeding up the years-long approval process for new over-the-counter medications.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://keller.house.gov/media/in-the-news/lawmakers-proposals-go-congress"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7903110235929489, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
