Rep. Mullin\u2019s bipartisan Dredging Coordination Improvement Act, which was incorporated into a water resources package, would prevent delays in shipping, keeping supply chains moving and costs for consumers low.\n\nThe funding authorizations Rep. Mullin secured, which were included in the Water Resources Development Act of 2026, are for a range of projects \u2013 from improved stormwater infrastructure to wastewater treatment plant construction. Actual funding would be allocated later during federal appropriations cycles, but securing funding authorization is a critical first step. The bill must also be passed by the Senate and signed into law by the President.\n\nRep. Mullin\u2019s Dredging Coordination Improvement Act addresses challenges facing port authorities around the U.S. that deal with unpredictable maintenance dredging projects. Dredging removes sand and mud from waterways to make them passable by ships delivering supplies and consumer goods. The bill would streamline coordination between stakeholders, such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and local port authorities, require more consultation with partners around contracting, and require more budget transparency.\n\n\u201cHere in the San Francisco Bay Area, I have seen how climate change is reshaping our region \u2013 from coastal erosion to rising flood risk concerns,\u201d said Rep. Mullin. \u201cFor our communities along the shore in particular, these long-term infrastructure improvements are crucial to reduce flooding and strengthen resilience for residents, businesses, and critical infrastructure. I\u2019m proud to fight for these projects because they represent real, tangible investments in the safety and health of our communities. I\u2019m also proud the House passed my bipartisan bill to support our local ports, which are vital to supply chains across the country.\u201d\n\nThe list of project authorizations include:\n\nMid-Peninsula Hills Satellite Water Recycling Facility Project in San Mateo County\n\nThe San Mateo County Flood and Sea Level Rise Resiliency District (also known as OneShoreline) would partner with the Army Corps of Engineers to design and construct a new water recycling facility for irrigation of nearby schools and parks.\n\nPort of Redwood City Storm/Sewage Infrastructure Improvement Project\n\nThe Port of Redwood City would improve stormwater and sewage infrastructure, including pumps and pipelines, to increase long-term capacity and resilience.\n\nO\u2019Connor Pump Station Stormwater Management East Palo Alto\n\nThe O\u2019Connor Pump Station would improve pumping equipment and capacity to enhance flooding protection.\n\nCity of East Palo Alto Water Supply Improvements\n\nThe City of East Palo Alto would construct a new water storage facility and upgrade the water distribution system.\n\nSilicon Valley Clean Water Side Stream Nutrient Removal\n\nSilicon Valley Clean Water would add a new wastewater treatment process to reduce pollution entering the environmentally-sensitive San Francisco Bay.\n\nSilicon Valley Clean Water Bayside Levee Feasibility Study\n\nArmy Corps of Engineers would study the feasibility of a flood damage reduction project to protect critical wastewater infrastructure in Redwood City.\n\n###", 1, "2026-09-18T09:27:43Z", "2026-09-18T09:29:09Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://kevinmullin.house.gov/2026/09/17/rep-mullins-water-infrastructure-funding-passes-house-totaling-75-million-supporting-critical-local-needs/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.2168840039521456, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
