Salazar, 202-225-9894
Olivia Manz
Press.Kihuen@mail.house.gov
WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, Representative Ruben J. Kihuen joined health care enrollment navigators at Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada, which is a Nevada Health Link enrollment assistance location, to kick off the Open Enrollment Period. Open Enrollment begins on November 1st and ends December 15th. To get covered during this time, Nevadans can visit nevadahealthlink.com or healthcare.gov to find enrollment assistance.
“The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has helped improve the lives of so many Americans, especially in Nevada. In my district alone, the uninsured rate has gone from 22% to 12% since the ACA was implemented. I am committed to doing everything possible to make sure Nevadans know where to go to find the healthcare coverage that is right for them and their families during this Open Enrollment season.
“At every turn, this administration has attempted to sabotage and undermine the Affordable Care Act, from slashing cost-sharing reduction payments to spending months on reckless repeal-and-replace efforts. Due to the absence of leadership from the White House and its failure to reach out and make the enrollment period successful, it is up to Members of Congress, advocacy groups, and citizens to help connect their communities and constituents with information about signing up for health coverage on the exchanges.”

Background:
Earlier this year, Rep. Kihuen cosponsored the Marketplace Certainty Act which would permanently fund cost-sharing reduction subsidies, helping address market instability and helping make insurance plans more affordable for Nevadans. Additionally, the Congressman is a cosponsor of the State Public Option Act, Medicare Buy-In Act and the Affordable Coverage For More Americans Act.
Rep. Kihuen's district office in North Las Vegas serves as an information center for enrollment information, working with the city, county, and state to refer residents to appropriate help locations. Throughout this month, Rep. Kihuen's office will be working with community partners, health providers, and Nevada Health Link on a number of outreach efforts including events, email, mail, and video outreach to ensure the community has information about the Open Enrollment period.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://kihuen.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=161
