Kinzinger Floor Speech for Officer Jaimie Cox", "2017-12-05", "2017", "2017-12", "Republican", "House", "IL", "Adam Kinzinger", "K000378", "kinzinger.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Washington, DC \u2013 Last week, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) spoke on the House Floor to honor the life of Rockford Police Officer Jaimie Cox, who was killed in the line of duty a month ago today. \r\n          share:\r\n          f \r\n          t \r\n        \r\n      \r\n      Washington, DC \u2013 Last week, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) spoke on the House Floor to honor the life of Rockford Police Officer Jaimie Cox, who was killed in the line of duty a month ago today. \r\nRemarks as prepared for delivery: \r\n\u201cMr. Speaker, I rise today in honor and recognition of Officer Jaimie Cox, a fallen hero from my district who was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop on Sunday, November 5, 2017. \r\n\u201cJaimie Cox, a Rockford native, served our community and our country proudly. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Army National Guard. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 and was honorably discharged in 2010.\u00a0 He went on to attend Northern Illinois University and graduated in 2014.\r\n\u201cFor his military service, Cox received the Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He also won the Illinois National Guard Abraham Lincoln Medal of Freedom Ribbon.\u00a0\r\n\u201cFollowing college, Cox joined the law enforcement division at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources before coming home to serve as an officer of the Rockford Police Department. \r\n\u201cMr. Speaker, Jaimie Cox spent his life dedicated to serving and protecting others. On a daily basis, he risked his life to help others and he gave the ultimate sacrifice protecting our community.
