{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://lance.house.gov/newsroom/press-releases/lance-nj-wins-under-environmental-clean-up-bill", "Lance: NJ Wins Under Environmental Clean Up Bill", "2017-11-30", "2017", "2017-11", "Republican", "House", "NJ", "Leonard Lance", "L000567", "lance.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07), member of House Energy and Commerce Committee and Climate Solution Caucus, today supported H.R. 3017, the Brownfields Enhancement Economic Redevelopment and Reauthorization Act, on the House floor.\u00a0 Lance\u2019s House Energy and Commerce Committee championed the bipartisan bill to reauthorize the successful Brownfields Program through the Environmental Protection Agency that is tasked with remediation and redevelopment of 419 contaminated sites in New Jersey.\n\u201cThe Brownfields Program has worked and must be reauthorized.\u00a0 \u00a0Over 59,000 sites nationwide, and 419 in New Jersey, have been transformed by remediation and redevelopment freeing our land and water from harmful chemicals and other hazards.\u00a0 This is a tremendous win for environmental protection, economic development and for communities that have struggled with contaminated sites,\u201d said Lance during debate in the U.S. House.\nThe Brownfields Program assists localities with the cleanup of properties where redevelopment or preservation is complicated by environmental contamination.\u00a0 Brownfields sites are often abandoned, closed, or under-utilized industrial or commercial facilities, such as an abandoned factory in a town, a closed commercial building or warehouse, or a former dry cleaning establishment or gas station.\u00a0 The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that there are more than 450,000 brownfields in the United States, and each of these sites has the potential to encourage economic development through the Brownfields Program.\n\u201cFacilities in Dover, East Amwell, Phillipsburg, Roxbury and Somerville are slated for revitalization.\u00a0 This public-private partnership has been a winning formula as the Brownfields Program has already prompted $ 22 billion in private investment \u2013 a major return on a minimal, though important, federal investment,\u201d added Lance.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://lance.house.gov/newsroom/press-releases/lance-nj-wins-under-environmental-clean-up-bill"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6337661072611809, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
