Congressman Langworthy was joined at the fire department by Elmira Mayor Dan Mandell.\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to thank Elmira\u2019s firefighters in person for putting their lives on the line for our community every single day,\u201d said Congressman Langworthy. \u201cIt\u2019s always been my priority to do what I can to ensure our first responders have the resources they need to do their jobs safely. I\u2019m proud to announce this significant grant that will enable the City of Elmira to purchase new gear and enhance the capabilities of our local fire department.\u201d\n\nMayor Dan Mandell said, \u201cWe are grateful for Congressman Langworthy's partnership with the City of Elmira to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. This funding will play a pivotal role in equipping our firefighters with the latest tools and resources they need to carry out their duties safely and effectively.\u201d\n\nThe City of Elmira intends to use this grant to purchase 40 new Scott Air Packs and 80 air bottles. Congressman Langworthy sent a letter to FEMA to advocate for this grant on behalf of the city in May.\n\nAccording to FEMA, the primary goal of these grants is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of first responders while also improving their ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. They aim to address the evolving needs of first responders, from advanced equipment acquisition and updating aging vehicles to safety improvement and training programs.\n\nCongressman Nick Langworthy represents the 23rd Congressional District of New York, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties and parts of Erie County.
