John B. Larson (CT-01) votedH.R. 133, the FY 2021 omnibus.\nI'm proud to vote for this funding package that will support our communities during this pandemic.Included in this legislation is funding for 96 F-35Joint Strike Fighters. The manufacturing of the F-35 supports92smalltomediumsuppliersandover sixteen thousandjobsin State of Connecticut. During these tough economic times, this funding will help spur our local economy.\nAdditionally, the package includes vital investments into our local communities. At time when many Americans are facing historic food insecurity, we're providing robust funding increases to food assistance programs. It also makes significant investments in public education and our schools.\nNotably, this year's bill includes critical legislation to put patients first and end surprise medicalbilling. For too long, patients havebornethe brunt of the cost for seeking emergency medical care or unknowingly seeing an out-of-network provider. This will no longer happen after today's legislation is enacted. Part of this package included my legislation, the Know Your Provider Act, requiring insurance companieskeepup to dateproviderdirectoriesfor theircustomers.\nThispackagewill alsoresult in a meaningful increase inrenewableenergy across our country. From extending tax credits that havebeenproven tosupport green energy deployment, to making amassiveinvestment in grid modernization and renewableenergyand storage research, this legislationmeans more jobs and a cleanerenergy infrastructure.\nOther provisions included inthe bill:\n Provides$243.2 billion in funding for Department of Veterans Affairs, including $90 billion for medical careand pre-funds additional $94.2 billionforVAmedical programsinthe Fiscal Year 2022.\n\tIncrease in IRS taxpayer customer services.\n\tIncreases funding for NationalInstitute ofHealthincluding forresearchonAlzheimers, AIDS/HIV, Downs Syndrome.\n\tIncrease in funding forthe Center for Disease Controland public health agencies across the country.\n\tIncrease in Substance Abuse programs, including mental health services.\n\tIncrease in funds for Community Health Centers.\n\tIncrease in the maximum Pell Grant amount to keep pace with inflation.\n\tIncrease in funding for Head Start and the Child Care Development Block Grant.\n\tIncrease in funding for K-12 education.\n CT Manufacturing Prioritiesinclude:\n $9.6 billion for purchase of 96 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters\n\t$3 billion for continued development of B-21 Long Range Strike Bomber\n\t$6.8 billion for the Virginia class submarine programand$4.1 billion for Ohio Replacement\n\t$2.7 billion for 15 KC-46A Tankers\n\t$862million for 42 UH-60 Blackhawks\n\t$1.1 billion for purchase of 9 CH-53K Heavy Lift Helicopters\n\t$786 million to purchase 5 E-2D ADV Hawkeye\n\t$1.1 billion for procurement of 19 Combat Search and Rescue Helicopters\n\t$578 million for 5 VH-92 Presidential Helicopters\n\t$7 million fordevelopment of K-MAX unmanned heavy lift helicopter\n \n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://larson.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/larson-year-end-funding-bill-will-support-our-communities-during"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.16087612695992, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
