Lawson Announces 2018-19 Recipients of the Gilman International Scholarship \n\t\t\tU.S. Rep. Lawson Announces 2018-19 Recipients of the Gilman International Scholarship\r\n\r\nWASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Rep. Al Lawson (FL-05) today announced that ten outstanding students from the Florida's Fifth Congressional District have been awarded the highly competitive Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad during the 2018-2019 academic year. \r\nMore than 13,000 students nationwide applied for the Gilman scholarship, and 10 students from Rep. Lawson's district were among the those awarded scholarships. \r\nThis scholarship provides a valuable opportunity for learning and growth through cultural exchange, Rep. Lawson said. These scholars have the chance to engage with their world and academic disciplines through this experience, and I look forward to the new global perspectives and conversations they will bring back to our community.\r\nThe scholarship program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education.
