I am privilege to have known \r\nher.\r\n\r\nWe were \r\nelected to Congress around the same time  just two years apart. You could say, \r\nI followed her into the House.\r\n\r\nLike our \r\nbeloved Shirley Chisholm, who was the first Black woman elected to Congress, \r\nJulia was the first woman and first African American to represent \r\nIndianapolis.\r\n\r\nShe is an \r\ninspiration to the many young women who will dare to enter public service and \r\nher spirit will inspire them to keep fighting the good fight as she did during \r\nher 35 years in elected office.\r\n\r\nJulia left \r\nthis world a better place then she found it.
