Lipinski.\u00a0 \u201cBuying American is one of the fastest and most effective ways to create jobs and give the overall economy a boost.\u00a0 This legislation would help ensure that we are supporting American workers, especially the hard-working middle class.\u201d\r\n\r\n\t\u201cGrowing our local economy and boosting the manufacturing industry in our region have always been among my top priorities \u2013 that\u2019s why I\u2019m introducing this bipartisan, common-sense 'Buy America' legislation,\u201d Congresswoman Bustos said.\u00a0 \u201cOur state and federally funded construction projects should use American-made steel and iron while benefitting American workers.\u00a0 I\u2019m proud to join Representatives Lipinski and Jones in this effort, and I will continue to fight for Illinois\u2019 manufacturers and working families.\u201d\r\n\r\n\t\u201cI believe that taxpayer dollars should solely support American-made infrastructure.\u00a0 Unfortunately, current provisions in the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund are weak and Buy America text is only written for FY 2017,\u201d Congressman Jones said.\u00a0 \u201cRepresentatives Cheri Bustos, Dan Lipinski, and I introduced this legislation to ensure that Congress never puts a limit on supporting this country\u2019s economy.\u201d\r\n\r\n\tMany infrastructure projects are subject to \u201cBuy America\u201d provisions that require the use of American-made iron and steel.\u00a0 In the fall, the Senate passed their version of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), including a permanent \u201cBuy America\u201d requirement for projects funded by the DWSRF.\u00a0 Last week, Representative Lipinski led members, including Representatives Bustos and Jones, in calling on Speaker Ryan to include permanent \u201cBuy America\u201d provisions for any DWSRF projects in the final WRDA bill.\u00a0 As of right now, the current WRDA bill only contains a one year application of \u201cBuy America\u201d to the DWSRF.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://lipinski.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=91&itemid=3145"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.4987769536674023, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
