Despite the mourning and cries of never again!' by Americans who have joined the fight to prevent gun violence, Congress has done something extraordinary: nothing. \nOn this solemn anniversary, the best way we can honor the victims of Newtown and their families is to strengthen laws that protect Americans from gun violence. We could start with the bipartisan legislation to expand background checks. It deserves a vote, and the families of Newtown deserve a law.\nIt is time for Congress to act.\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://lowey.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/congresswoman-loweys-statement-one-year-anniversary-shooting-newtown"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7457002066075802, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
