{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://lujan.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=25&itemid=4706", "Lujn Statement on Republican Short-Term CR", "2017-12-21", "2017", "2017-12", "Democrat", "House", "NM", "Ben Luj\u00e1n", "L000570", "lujan.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "[WASHINGTON, DC]  Congressman Ben Ray Lujn (D-NM) today issued the following statement shortly after voting against the Republican short-term CR:\r\n\r\n\tFor the past month, Congressional Republicans have been completely preoccupied with ramming through a tax bill that showers tax breaks on corporations and the wealthiest Americans. Despite controlling the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate, Republicans have advanced yet another stop-gap spending bill that makes a complete mess of the very basics of governing and fails the American people.\r\n\r\n\tThe bill does not include a long-term reauthorization of the Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Any short term extension threatens childrens health coverage. States are already running out of money and freezing their programs  putting at risk 9 million children and families who depend on the program.\r\n\r\n\tThis bill also breaks the Presidents promise to protect young people who were brought to this country as small children from deportation by not including the bipartisan DREAM Act. Republicans will allow thousands of young people to live in fear of being deported during the holidays.Tearing families apart to achieve a political end does not reflect American values.\r\n\r\n\tIn addition, by failing to bolster their Medicaid programs, the Republican disaster supplemental short-changes the hurricane ravaged areas of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.\r\n\r\n\tCongressional Republicans want to pass this bill and go home for the holidays. I cannot support a bill that leaves so many urgent needs unaddressed. The American people deserve better and I am willing to stay and work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle until we get this right.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://lujan.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=25&itemid=4706"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 6.571291014552116, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
