Dr. Stuppard served 30 years in the Navy and retired at the rank of Captain. He commanded Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG-51), the Individual Augmentees (IA) Task Group in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and Naval Forces Division in Saudi Arabia.\nI'm proud to welcome Dr. Charles Stuppard to our team so that we can continue to provide exceptional constituent services and connect with communities throughout Coastal Virginia as we recover economically from the COVID-19 pandemic, said Congresswoman Elaine Luria. He shares my commitment to making Virginia a better place and his expertise and experience will serve our district well during the 117th Congress. Dr. Stuppard has a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering degree from Cornell, and worked as an Aerospace Design Engineer on two USAF jets before joining the Navy as a student naval aviator in Pensacola, Florida. He also holds a master's degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and a Ph.D. from Salve Regina University.
