CLICK HERE To Watch the Congresswoman’s Remarks The following are Congresswoman Jenkins’ remarks: “One of the most important things we can do to encourage economic growth and job creation is to provide certainty and a stable business environment. The tax code is a natural place to start, so businesses and families can plan for their future. And that is what we have been working on for months, a bi-partisan plan to make more important tax provisions permanent including everything from research expenditures, developmental programs, and teacher reimbursements. “House Republicans and Senate Democrats working together to get things done and to deliver real results for the challenges we face. In this environment, in divided government, we nearly had a plan to give some stability to our tax code. “Then the president spoke, saying it’s my way or the highway issuing a veto threat to our agreement. “So, unfortunately, this week, we will pass a band aid so folks at home won’t be hit with unexpected taxes come April. As a CPA who practiced in the tax area I know that this is the bare minimum we can do. This is certainly not the way that federal tax law should be written. “The American people spoke and elected America’s new Congress because they are sick of gridlock in Washington. The President clearly didn't get this message. “In the next Congress, let’s hope the American people get what they deserve – a government that is efficient and effective. A government that works. I know that we stand ready to lead, and we hope the President will work with us.” # # #", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://lynnjenkins.house.gov/press-releases/congresswoman-jenkins-discusses-president-obamas-veto-threat-of-bipartisan-tax-extenders-plan/
