Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and strip her of all House committee assignments for her vile comments mocking the assassination of Charlie Kirk.\n\n\u201cIlhan Omar has shown us exactly who she is: someone who defends political violence and refuses to condemn the loss of innocent lives when it doesn\u2019t suit her agenda, even the cold-blooded assassination of Charlie Kirk,\u201d said Congresswoman Mace. \u201cIf you mock a political assassination and celebrate murder, you don\u2019t get to keep your committee seat, you get consequences.\u201d\n\nThe resolution follows Omar\u2019s September 11 interview on the \u201cBreaking Points\u201d podcast, which she later reposted on her own social media, where she demeaned Charlie Kirk, belittled his grieving family, and all but blamed him for his own assassination.\n\nIn the interview, just days after his murder, Omar mocked those mourning Kirk, claiming people who say \u201cCharlie Kirk just wanted to have a civil debate\u201d are \u201cfull of s\u2014.\u201d She added, \u201cThere is nothing more f\u2014ed up than to completely pretend that his words and actions have not been recorded and in existence for the last decade or so.\u201d When told that millions are mourning Kirk and that some described him as a civil debater, Omar dismissed their grief outright, calling it \u201ccomplete rewriting of history.\u201d\n\nOmar also shared a separate video calling Charlie Kirk a \u201cstochastic terrorist\u201d and a \u201creprehensible human being,\u201d accusing him of promoting hatred right up to his final moments.\n\nKey Provisions of the Resolution:\n\nFormally censures Omar before the full House of Representatives.\n\nRequires Omar to stand in the well of the House as the censure is publicly read aloud by the Speaker.\n\nStrips Omar of her committee assignments on the House Education and Workforce Committee and the House Budget Committee.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T19:10:29Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://mace.house.gov/media/press-releases/mace-moves-strip-ilhan-omar-committee-seats"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8733130525797606, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
