Our military\u2019s purpose is to defend America, not to indulge radical experiments in gender ideology. This amendment ensures defense resources strengthen our fighting force and protect our nation, not bankroll procedures with no place in our armed forces.\u201d\n\nThe amendment draws a clear line: TRICARE, the military\u2019s health care program, may not cover gender-transition treatments.\n\nThis amendment reinforces President Trump\u2019s leadership in restoring common sense across the federal government. In the President\u2019s executive order, Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth, President Trump made clear taxpayer resources must not be wasted on gender ideology. Rep. Mace\u2019s amendment applies the same standard to the Department of War, ensuring defense dollars go to strengthening our military, not funding gender-transition procedures.\n\nBackground:\n\nCreates a new section of Title 10, U.S. Code, codifying gender-transition procedures as ineligible for coverage under TRICARE.\n\nBars TRICARE from offering these services to dependents of service members.\n\nProhibited treatments include surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormone therapies for the purpose of gender transition.\n\nExceptions apply only for rare cases of disorders of sex development, ambiguous biological sex characteristics, or medical care required due to injury, infection, or disease.\n\nThis amendment builds on legislation previously introduced by Rep. Mace as part of her broader fight to stop radical gender ideology, including the following bills:\n\nProtecting Girls\u2019 Sports for Military Kids Act \u2013 Puts a stop to biological men taking away opportunities from female athletes in women\u2019s sports. The legislation ensures female athletes at schools operated by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) get the fair playing field they deserve.\n\nGender-Affirming Child Abuse Prevention Act \u2013 Holds predators accountable by giving victims of so-called \u201cgender-affirming care\u201d as minors the right to seek justice in court.
