Cain was sentenced today to five years, suspended to 30 months of house arrest, followed by five years of probation, the maximum term of probation allowed under South Carolina law. A permanent restraining order to protect Rep. Mace will also be implemented as part of the sentencing.\n\n\"The fabric of our country is being torn from within,\" said Congresswoman Mace. \"We are consumed by violent threats against the people who serve it, but nothing will stop me from fighting for South Carolina..\u201d\n\nCain was arrested in May 2025 after posting publicly on X: \u201cI\u2019M GOING TO ASSASSINATE REPRESENTATIVE NANCY MACE WITH A GUN AND I\u2019M BEING 100% DEAD ASS.\u201d He was denied bond three times as the threat continued to escalate. A jailhouse informant reported Cain confirmed he would kill Rep. Mace if given the opportunity, during a discussion about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.\n\nAs part of his sentence, Cain is subject to the following conditions:\n\nMust wear a GPS monitor for the duration of his sentence\n\nMust undergo a psychiatric evaluation with Greenville Mental Health and comply with any treatment plans, including taking all prescribed medications\n\nMust follow a strict curfew from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., except for verified and approved employment\n\nMust have absolutely no contact with Congresswoman Mace, her family, or her staff\n\nIs subject to a permanent restraining order barring any contact with Congresswoman Mace and her family\n\nMust not possess firearms or ammunition\n\nCannot leave the state of South Carolina\n\nMust complete weekly drug screenings\n\nMust complete vocational rehabilitation\n\nMust obtain employment or provide proof of at least three job applications each week\n\nMust complete 100 hours of community service\n\nMay not access social media or use the internet for any purpose other than employment\n\nThe judge made clear: violating any condition of the sentence would result in Cain's immediate return to jail.\n\nBelow is Rep.
