After the vote, Congresswoman Celeste Maloy issued the following statement:\n\n\u201cThe federal government shouldn\u2019t have any more authority to spy on American citizens,\u201d said Rep. Maloy. \u201cToday, I voted in support of a FISA reform bill that includes increased civil and criminal penalties for violating Americans\u2019 fourth amendment rights. Holding agents accountable for abusing Americans is a top priority for me. I am disappointed that certain amendments didn\u2019t make it into the final bill, but I\u2019ll work with my Senate colleagues to secure even more safeguards.\u201d\n\nRepresentative Celeste Maloy voted in favor of an amendment that would have prohibited warrantless searches of American citizens.
