Significant sections of the bill -- S.47-- include the creation of the Jurassic National Monument in Emery County and the permanent reauthorization of the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.\nUtah's public lands are a national treasure and a major driving force in our economy. Public lands decisions are best when we forge a local consensus and that's exactly what happened with this package of bills, said McAdams. I'm excited that the Land and Water Conservation Fundwhich had been allowed to expireis permanently reauthorized. This fund has been a key component of America's outdoor recreation economy, which supports 110,000 jobs in Utah.\nMcAdams said the bill gives 2.6 acres of U.S. Forest Service land to Juab County that will be used to house Juab Special Service Fire District personnel in Nephi to prevent and fight wildfires. The bill also provides a land transfer in Utah County to Utah's School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA).\nMcAdams said numerous stakeholders worked together on the bill, which designates 661,000 acres of wilderness in Utah, including over 200,000 acres of wilderness in the spectacular Desolation and Labyrinth Canyons. Tens of thousands of annual visitors float those canyons with Utah river-running guides, viewing wildlife and ancient rock art.\nMcAdams said that for more than 50 years, the bipartisan Land and Water Conservation Fund has helped create parks and recreational opportunities in Utah. Over onemillion people participate in hunting, fishing and wildlife watching in Utah, contributing $12.3 billion to Utah's economy. The fund uses no taxpayer money but instead receives revenue from federal offshore oil and gas leases, which is then reinvested in projects such as expanding trails and creating more local and state parks to keep up with Utah's fast-growing population.\nThe legislation passed the House by a vote of 363 - 62 after receiving a vote of 92-8 in favor in the Senate. It now goes to the President for his signature.\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://mcadams.house.gov/media/press-releases/mcadams-supports-bipartisan-public-lands-bill"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6635630745440722, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
