Two pieces of McBath\u2019s legislation, H.R. 7603 the WIC Healthy Beginning Act, and H.R. 5684 The Bark Act, were included in the overall bill. The WIC Healthy Beginnings Act would encourage competition, reduce costs, and improve quality of infant formula by creating a publicly available online database, a critical piece of legislation in the face of national shortages.\n\n\u201cNo child, regardless of the zip code they live in or the state they are born into, should have to face the pain that comes with going hungry,\u201d McBath said. \u201cEnding childhood hunger in the United States is something every American can get behind.\u201d\n\nThe bill that passed committee today also included another piece of McBath\u2019s legislation. H.R. 5684 or The Bark Act, sponsored by Rep. Jaime Raskin (D \u2013 MD), encourages charitable donations of pet food and supplies to animal shelters across America by waiving donor liability, which has been a longstanding deterrent for retailers to their donating of massive amounts of pet food to shelters.\n\n\u201cShelter pets should not go hungry, especially when large food retailers nationwide are throwing away surplus food,\u201d said McBath. \u201cThis bill will help protect our furry friends, and nurture shelter animals as they await adoption into their forever homes.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T02:49:02Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://mcbath.house.gov/press-releases?ID=5C1FC810-5970-4010-8F6E-092E5A6134D8"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8483999408781528, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
