Lucy McBath (D-GA) announced Sixth District students who were nominated by her office to attend a United States military service academy. In total, 30 students from the Sixth District received nominations to the following academies (two students received nominations to multiple academies): 10 students received a nomination to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, 10 students received a nomination to attend the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, 10 students received a nomination to attend the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and 2 students received a nomination to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.\n\n\u201cOnce again, I am impressed by the desire to serve demonstrated by these young people,\u201d McBath said. \u201c30 driven men and women from our community have earned the honor of a congressional nomination to a military service academy and will now be considered by their respective academies of choice for selection and an appointment to attend next fall. These nominees and their families should be exceedingly proud of this accomplishment, and I wish each of them the best as they move on to the next step of this fiercely competitive process.\u201d\n\nAll students who received a nomination from McBath\u2019s office must now be selected by the service academy for a formal appointment to attend in the fall of 2023.
