His remarks come on the heels of new reporting that Donald Trump is trying to take over the USPS and fire the postal board, which would make the situation in Louisville even worse.\n\nOver the weekend, over 1,000 Louisvillians attended Congressman McGarvey\u2019s in-person town halls and on Tuesday evening, over 7,500 constituents joined his telephone town hall. Congressman McGarvey elevated personal stories from these town halls in his speech today.\n\nCLICK HERE TO WATCH OR DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO\n\nTRANSCRIPT:\n\nSince before Christmas, I\u2019ve heard from Louisvillians every day about mail delays.\n\nI\u2019ve heard from people who haven\u2019t received paychecks, prescriptions, or W-2s.\n\nOne woman told me she received a bill so late, she owed more in late fees than she did on the bill.\n\nWhat concerns me is that if the Trump Administration gets its way, things will get worse.\n\nUSPS has operated independently since 1970 \u2013 but now, Donald Trump wants to take it over.\n\nWhy? So that Elon Musk can go in and fire letter carriers and sorters?\n\nThese are hardworking people who go above and beyond.\n\nThis weekend, I heard about a Louisville letter carrier who wears a headlamp because she works well into the evening.\n\nShe deserves support \u2013 not demonization.\n\nSo let\u2019s fix this. Let\u2019s get our letter carriers the resources they need. Let\u2019s get our sorters the machinery they need.
