Res. 38, a war powers resolution to direct the President to remove U.S. Armed Forces from unauthorized hostilities in Iran:\n\n\u201cThe decision to go to war is so consequential that our founders were clear: no one person \u2014 not a president or a king \u2014 should have that power. The grave responsibility of putting our servicemembers in harm\u2019s way, plus spending the billions of taxpayer dollars this war will cost, rests squarely with Congress and the people who send them there.\n\n\u201cCongress never authorized Trump\u2019s illegal war, and based on what we\u2019ve been told so far, they shouldn\u2019t. Even in a classified briefing, this administration couldn\u2019t justify their actions, couldn\u2019t guarantee they won\u2019t send our troops onto Iranian streets, and couldn't explain any strategic endgame.\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s an insult to cut money for families\u2019 health care and food assistance, then hand them the bill for a war nobody asked for and nobody can explain.\u201d\n\nLast June, McGarvey cosponsored a similar resolution, but House Republican leadership has failed to consider the bill.\n\n###\n\nCongressman Morgan McGarvey represents Kentucky\u2019s Third Congressional District, including Louisville and Jefferson County.
