David B. McKinley, P.E. voted for the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (H.R. 3080) which invests in America's vital port and waterways infrastructure. The bill passed the House with strong bipartisan support. In the First District we understand how waterways like the Ohio and Monongahela Rivers are critical to our economy, said Rep. McKinley. Every year, billions of dollars of products from coal to chemicals are shipped through them, and they support nearly 10,000 jobs for our friends and neighbors. As an engineer, I also recognize that modernizing and investing in our infrastructure is essential. The water resources bill:  Cuts red tape and bureaucracy and streamlines projects so they can be completed quickly;  Contains no earmarks and saves $12 billion by not reauthorizing old, inactive projects;  Provides Congressional oversight in reviewing and prioritizing future investments; and  Is supported by more than 70 major organizations representing both business and labor. From the beginning of our nation, the Founding Fathers recognized there needs to be a federal role in transportation because a sound infrastructure is necessary to the flow of commerce, added McKinley. We are continuing their legacy with this bill to improve our waterways, ports, locks and dams. Investing in our country's water infrastructure is a major step towards creating jobs and increasing our economic competitiveness.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://mckinley.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=428"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9109210222959518, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
