Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) released the following statement after reviewing the Office of the Inspector General's report on FISA applications and other areas of the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane investigation:\r\nThe Inspector General's report is a damning indictment of former senior FBI and DOJ officials who repeatedly broke the rules to investigate Americans associated with Donald Trumpa Presidential candidate they opposed.\r\nThe report is as disturbing as we expectedand in many ways it's worse, given the false preemptive leaks that permeated the media the last several weeks. It outlines disturbing details of the FBI's errors and malfeasance at every level of their decision to investigate individuals in the Trump campaign. These include the FBI's failure to properly vet the accuracy of FISA applications, knowingly withholding exculpatory information, using 'defensive briefings' to secretly investigate individuals in the Trump campaign, recording individuals within the campaign, and more.\r\nTime and time again, these errors were emblematic of a culture where senior officials broke rules, bypassed procedures, and used faulty information  all in a manner that worked directly against the Trump campaign. By any metric, their conduct is totally unacceptable.\r\nIn light of the report, FBI Director Wray has indicated he is totally committed to reforming the agency and making sure this never happens again, including as many as 40 specific steps the agency plans to take. He should be commended for this, and I look forward to hopefully working with him to do so. It should be noted that the apparent plans for reform should cast an exposing light on any assertion that the former officials implicated in this reported are somehow vindicated. They are not vindicated, as anyone who reads the report can see.\r\nNow, as we await John Durham's investigation of a more criminal nature, Congress should allow Michael Horowitz to testify and explain his findings. This should happen immediately. I hope my Democrat colleagues, who have lately shown a lot of concern for allegations thin on evidence, will show the same concern for conduct where real evidence exists.\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://meadows.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=3098"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.7564620357006788, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
