Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives to recognize the University of Iowa Stead Family Children\u2019s Hospital.\n\nImage\n\nTo watch Miller-Meeks\u2019 speech, click HERE, and read her remarks as prepared for delivery below:\n\nMr. Speaker, September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and I would like to take a moment to thank my district for their work in treating and researching childhood cancer.\n\nA staple in my district and to the Iowa City community is the University of Iowa Stead Family Children\u2019s Hospital, located right across the street from Kinnick Stadium. You might know it well from the \u201cwave\u201d, one of college football\u2019s greatest traditions.\n\nThe Stead Family Children\u2019s Hospital specializes in treating pediatric patients, winning several awards for their specialties in pediatric cancer, orthopedics, and cardiology, among others.\n\nOur gratitude for helping these children extends beyond the staff at Stead Family Children\u2019s Hospital, many University of Iowa students and members of the Iowa City Community use their free time to volunteer just to brighten a child\u2019s day.\n\nThank you to the men and women in Iowa who are working to treat, and research childhood cancer, and those who use their time to comfort children that are currently battling it.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:17:01Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://millermeeks.house.gov/media/press-releases/miller-meeks-recognizes-university-iowa-stead-family-childrens-hospital"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.7775418236851692, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
