Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) joined a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to keep his promises on upholding the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) by not decimating the demand for billions of gallons of ethanol.\n\n\u201cThen-candidate Biden made numerous promises to biofuels producers that he would support their livelihoods and uphold the RFS. I am disappointed to see his Administration has begun to make decisions that would be counter to his previous commitments,\u201d said Miller-Meeks. \u201cBiofuels are incredibly important to Iowa\u2019s economy, putting money in the pockets of our producers and creating countless jobs across our state. My colleagues and I in the bipartisan Biofuels Caucus will continue to fight to ensure that our energy sector continues to use biofuels to end our dependence on foreign energy, diversify our energy usage, become more environmentally friendly, and create good-paying jobs.\u201d\n\nIn their letter, the members highlighted that while running for President, President Biden stated that President Trump\u2019s RFS waivers were \u201charmful\u201d and called for \u201csetting strong (Renewable Volumes Obligation) levels for 2021.\u201d Now, it is again being reported that President Biden\u2019s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is \u201cconsidering big cuts to biofuel blending mandates for 2020, 2021, and 2022.\u201d This past June, it was reported the Biden Administration was \u201cconsidering ways to provide relief to U.S. oil refiners from biofuel blending mandates.\u201d\n\nThis letter was signed by Reps.
