Greg Steube (R-FL) and 58 of her Republican colleagues in introducing the Iranian Terror Prevention Act. This legislation was introduced to fully sanction and designate 11 Iranian organizations as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).

"Iran and its proxy organizations continue to terrorize Israel. The United States must call out Iranian groups who commit such evil attacks for what they really are: terrorist organizations. President Biden has shown nothing but weakness and inconsistency when it comes to supporting Israel, and it’s unacceptable. The United States must stand behind Israelis, God’s chosen people. The Iranian Terror Prevention Act will sanction these terrorists and remind them of the United States’ commitment to Israel,” said Congresswoman Miller.

“Iran has long utilized proxy forces to execute their terror agenda throughout the region. Iranian proxy forces have American blood on their hands dating back decades. In addition to this weekend’s unprecedented attack directly from Iran on Israel, we’ve seen ramped up, repeated proxy attacks on U.S. troops and our other allies in the Middle East. Iran is clearly emboldened by the Biden administration’s weakness,” said Congressman Steube. “Washington has failed to designate most of the Iranian-backed militias as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. No more excuses. We must combat terrorism with boldness and strength. My legislation takes urgent, necessary actions to fully sanction these terrorist groups who hate our country and ensure the full weight of the Foreign Terrorist Organization designation is harshly felt.”

Background:

The Iranian Terror Prevention Act will designate these 11 Iranian groups as FTOs: Abu Fadl al-Abbas Brigades, Ansarallah (“Houthis”), Badr Organization, Fatemiyoun Brigade, Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, Kata’ib al-Imam Ali, Kata’ib Jund al-Imam, Kata’ib Sayyad al Shuhada, Sarayya al-Jihad, Sarayya Khorasani, and Zainabiyoun Brigade.

The Act will designate “any foreign entity of organization that is an agent of, affiliated with, or owned or controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” as an FTO.

The following six organizations are to be determined for sanctioning: Abu Fadl al-Abbas Brigades, Badr Organization, Kata’ib al-Imam Ali, Kata’ib Jund al-Imam, Sarayya al-Jihad, and Sarayya Khorasani.

Joining Representatives Miller and Steube are Representatives Kevin Hern (R-OK), Joe Wilson (R-SC), Mark Alford (R-MO), Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), Brian Babin (R-TX), Jim Baird (R-IN), Troy Balderson (R-OH), Jim Banks (R-IN), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR), Ben Cline (R-VA), Eli Crane (R-AZ), Rick Crawford (R-AR), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), Scott DesJarlais (R-TN), John Duarte (R-CA), Jeff Duncan (R-SC), Neal Dunn (R-FL), Pat Fallon (R-TX), Randy Feenstra (R-IA), Brad Finstad (R-MN), Russell Fry (R-SC), Tony Gonzales (R-TX), Lance Gooden (R-TX), Ashley Hinson (R-IA), Wesley Hunt (R-TX), Ronny Jackson (R-TX), Jen Kiggans (R-VA), Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), Doug Lamborn (R-CO), Nick Langworthy (R-NY), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), Tom McClintock (R-CA), Mary Miller (R-IL), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), John Moolenaar (R-MI), Alex Mooney (R-WV), Barry Moore (R-AL), Dan Newhouse (R-WA), Andy Ogles (R-TN), Gary Palmer (R-AL), August Pfluger (R-TX), Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA), John Rutherford (R-FL), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), David Schweikert (R-AZ), Austin Scott (R-GA), Keith Self (R-TX), Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chris Smith (R-NJ), Claudia Tenney (R-NY), Tom Tiffany (R-WI), William Timmons (R-SC), Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), Randy Weber (R-TX), and Brandon Williams (R-NY).

###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T20:47:55Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://miller.house.gov/media/press-releases/miller-colleagues-introduce-iranian-terror-prevention-act-0
