I\u2019m working every day to create a brighter future for our families, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside my colleagues to ensure everyone has the resources necessary to thrive.\u201d\n\nCongressman Morelle secured over $12 million in funding for local organizationswho submitted requests through the Fiscal Year 2023 Community Project Funding process, including:\n\nAction for a Better Community: $517,000\n\nBivona Child Advocacy Center: $306,000\n\nCameron Community Ministries: $200,000\n\nCharles Settlement House: $619,784\n\nCity of Rochester Youth Employment Services: $1,000,000\n\nCity of Rochester Surveillance Equipment: $300,000\n\nConnected Communities: $500,000\n\nCounty of Monroe/Monroe Community College: $3,500,000\n\nEnCompass Resources for Learning: $700,000\n\nHis Branches: $819,312\n\nRochester Area Community Foundation: $300,000\n\nRochester Institute of Technology: $2,000,000\n\nSusan B. Anthony House: $750,000\n\nUniversity of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital: $1,000,000 W\n\nWillow Domestic Violence Center: $325,000\n\nAdditional highlights of the appropriations package include investments in:\n\nUplifting Families\n\n$8 billion for the Child Care and Development Block Grant, which helps low-income families access childcare;\n\n$12 billion for Head Start to strengthen early childhood education;\n\n$315 million for Preschool Development Grants\n\n$154 billion for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and $6 billion for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) to reduce food insecurity;\n\n$28.5 billion for child nutrition programs supporting school lunches as well as summer meals;\n\n$5 billion for Low Income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to help families afford home heating costs.\n\n$455 billion to expand broadband internet service, particularly in rural areas\n\nSupporting Servicemembers and Veterans\n\n$118.7 billion for Veterans Affairs (VA) medical care to provide essential health services for more than 7.3 million veterans;\n\n$5 billion to assist with implementation of the Honoring Our PACT Act, which strengthens healthcare for veterans exposed to toxins;\n\n$44.9 billion in emergency assistance to Ukraine including resources for training, equipment, weapons, supplies and services, salaries and stipends, and intelligence support;\n\n$2.6 billion to support housing assistance for veterans and their families.\n\nStrengthening our Economy\n\n$1.8 billion to implement the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act which bolsters advanced manufacturing, creates jobs, and enhances American competitiveness with China;\n\n$500 million for the Regional Technology and Innovation Hub Program, to provide planning grants to create geographically-distributed \u201cregional technology hubs,\u201d focusing on technology development, job creation, and expanding U.S. innovation capacity;\n\n$121 million for the Economic Development Administration\u2019s Public Works program;\n\n$140 million to support Small Business Development Centers;\n\n$27 million for Women\u2019s Business Centers.\n\nEnhancing Education\n\n$7,395 for the maximum Pell Grant.
