The funding breakdown of the grants is as follows:\n\n$389,310 to support wide debris removal operations in Buchanan County\n\nIn response to this grant notice, U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:\n\n\u201cVirginia\u2019s Ninth District uses federal assistance to help communities recover from natural disasters damages, such as the damaging winter storms from early 2025.\n\n\u201cAs the Congressman for Southwest Virginia, I pushed for action at the federal level to approve Governor Youngkin\u2019s Major Disaster Declaration.\n\n\u201cThis FEMA grant for nearly $400,000 helps Buchanan County access federal disaster relief.\u201d\n\nBACKGROUND\n\nFEMA funds are obligated to the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Commonwealth will be responsible for providing the funds to the sub-recipients.\n\nThese grants are related to Virginia\u2019s Major Disaster Declaration that President Trump approved in April 2025.
