Kelly Morrison (MN-03) called out President Trump and Congressional Republicans\u2019 betrayal of American families after blocking critical IVF treatment expansion for military families.\n\nPresident Trump has called himself the \u201cfertilization president\u201d and promised to expand IVF treatment \u2014 but Congressional Republicans are sending a bill to President Trump\u2019s desk that fails to expand coverage of IVF treatment for military families.\n\nAn OB-GYN for more than 20 years and a member of the House Veterans\u2019 Affairs Committee, Rep. Morrison\u2019s remarks below:\n\nMr. Speaker, today I rise to condemn the betrayal of President Trump and his Republican majorities. Trump called himself the \u201cfertilization president\u201d and promised to expand access to IVF \u2013 but his Speaker of the House just blocked critical IVF expansion for military families.\n\nThe American people overwhelmingly want to expand access to IVF.\n\nAnd it\u2019s what Donald Trump promised them as he was running for president last year. And I quote word for word: \"Under the Trump administration, we are going to be paying for that treatment. Or we're going to be mandating that the insurance company pay.\"\n\nBut here we are, and the Republican Congress is sending a bill to President Trump\u2019s desk that fails to expand coverage for military families to do just that.\n\nSo the brave service members who put their lives on the line for our country and our freedoms will not be able to access the care they need to grow their families if they suffer from infertility.\n\nThis is sadly only the latest betrayal by the Republican majority talking a big game about being \u201cpro-family\u201d but blocking policies that would actually support them.\n\nIt is beyond disappointing.
