This bill is more transformative than any piece of legislation we’ve seen in years.

While we didn’t always agree and today’s outcome might’ve taken longer than many of my colleagues hoped for, the simple truth is that legislation like this doesn’t come without negotiation, compromise and a bit of frustration.

This bill isn’t only transformative because it finally meets the needs of working-class American families, but also because it pushes us toward a path to reinventing our 1950s transportation system. The agenda includes money for true high-speed rail that will connect people and offer cleaner, faster, and safer alternatives to sitting in traffic.

For a long time, if you were a supporter of high-speed rail, people would listen politely, agree...and then say it will never happen. But whether you care about climate change, economic development, or simply spending our limited transportation dollars more wisely, high-speed rail is the answer.

Every American deserves the freedom to travel comfortably and effortlessly at 200 mph from city to city and town to town if they want to, just like the rest of the developed world. And tonight, we just got closer than we've ever been to this reality.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:30:49Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://moulton.house.gov/news/press-releases/moulton-statement-house-passage-build-back-better-act
