Gomes Service Award. Congressman Seth Moulton presented the award at a ceremony in Peabody last night.\n\nBecroft volunteers with Healing Abuse Working for Change (HAWC) to ensure support and access to justice for victims of domestic violence. He regularly takes shifts on HAWC\u2019s emergency hotline and volunteers 2-3 times a week in multiple courts to help survivors apply for abuse prevention orders. Steve also engages in safety planning with survivors so they can make informed decisions about their safety and wellbeing, and he conducts outreach calls after they obtain prevention orders to provide continued support and resources.\n\nFour honorees were also recognized for their exemplary integrity, compassion, and commitment to community \u2013 attributes that were embodied by the Congressman\u2019s late mentor, Reverend Professor Peter J. Gomes.\n\n\u201cWhat an incredible group of honorees we had this year. Selecting one person for this award was an incredibly difficult decision to make because each honoree demonstrates a truly inspiring commitment to service,\u201d said Congressman Moulton. \u201cI was particularly touched by Steve Becroft\u2019s dedication to helping victims of domestic violence.
