Congressman Moulton toured the facility and spoke with ICE personnel afterwards. After concluding his visit, Congressman Moulton spoke to advocates and media outside of the facility to detail his observations and discuss future action to hold ICE accountable.\n\nWatch the press conference here.\n\nKey findings from Congressman Moulton\u2019s tour include:\n\nThis facility is not meant for detention\n\nWhen people are detained here, they lose access to certain rights they would get at a true detention facility\n\nFor example, attorneys are not allowed to visit clients that are detained in Burlington\n\nPeople sleep on concrete floors and benches\u2014there are no cots or mats\u2014with only an aluminum survival blanket.\n\nThe toilets are open with no privacy or ventilation\n\nThe cells and cell area are cleaned by a janitor only once each day\n\nNotably, ICE confirmed what we\u2019ve been hearing from attorneys, clients, and family members\u2014they are moving individuals out of Burlington more quickly now compared to in June 2025. That comes with its own challenges, including that these individuals are being moved to facilities further away, with less access to immigration lawyers to represent them.\n\nCongressman Moulton will be pursuing policy to require humane conditions for detainees inside ICE field offices like the one in Burlington.
