Mrvan announced Community Project Funding requests for Indiana\u2019s First Congressional District for Fiscal Year 2024.\n\nCongressman Mrvan stated, \u201cI am grateful that a transparent process was established for all Members to include eligible projects in the House appropriations measures, and believe that this process is an essential component of our ability to advocate for economic growth and success in our districts. As we move forward, I will continue to work with all of my colleagues to move these measures forward and complete this Constitutional responsibility as soon as possible.\u201d\n\nThese requests have been included in House versions of the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations measures, and must be approved by both the House and Senate prior to being signed into law.\n\nTo watch Congressman Mrvan\u2019s remarks on the House floor on this matter, click here.\n\nCongressman Mrvan\u2019s projects included in the House appropriations measures are specified below.\n\n$2,000,000 \u2013 Calumet Region Environmental Infrastructure - funding provides for partnerships between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the communities in Lake and Porter Counties, to address critical water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater sewer infrastructure improvement.\n\n$998,000 \u2013 Burns Waterway Small Boat Harbor - funding will assist with operations and maintenance at Burns Waterway Small Boat Harbor.\n\n$2,525,000 \u2013 Michigan City Harbor - funding will assist with operations and maintenance at Michigan City Harbor.\n\n$264,000 \u2013 Gary Police Department - funding will assist with the purchase of stationary LPR camera devices and mobile trailer units, increasing the amount of LPR cameras that the City of Gary currently utilizes.\n\n$963,000 \u2013 Town of Merrillville - funding will assist the Merrillville Police Department\u2019s Radio Replacement Project with the purchase of emergency communication equipment.\n\n$180,000 \u2013 Michigan City Police Department - funding will be utilized to acquire license plate readers to enhance the Department\u2019s ability to effectively patrol in real-time and grow the coverage of officers within the Department.\n\n$215,000 \u2013 Munster Police Department - funding will be utilized to purchase and upgrade technology and equipment used by the Munster Police Department.\n\n$350,000 \u2013 City of Hammond Police Department - funding will be utilized to upgrade and enhance the Department\u2019s video surveillance/license plate reader system.\n\n$963,000 \u2013 Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana, Inc. - funding will be utilized for the purchase and installation of a new Mission Control Simulator to upgrade existing technology.\n\n$959,752 \u2013 City of Valparaiso - funding will assist with the Stormwater Quality and Detention Project to address combined sewers through sewer separation projects.\n\n$959,752 \u2013 City of La Porte - funding will assist the City\u2019s efforts to replace combined sewers with new separate sanitary and storm sewer facilities and a storm sewer extension.\n\n$3,500,000 \u2013 Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority - funding will assist with the construction and expansion of a heavy cargo logistics apron for multiple users to address increased cargo operations.\n\n$1,000,000 \u2013 City of Michigan City - funding will assist with construction and upgrades to Fedder\u2019s Alley All-Inclusive Playground and Fitness Park project to remove barriers to exclusion, both physical and social, providing a sensory-rich experience for all.\n\n$500,000 \u2013 City of Portage - funding will assist with additional phases of the Central Avenue Reconstruction Project to address inadequate safety conditions and deteriorating infrastructure.\n\nFor additional information on the appropriations measure, click here, and for additional information on Congressman Mrvan\u2019s requests, click here.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T00:18:03Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://mrvan.house.gov/media/press-releases/mrvan-announces-fiscal-year-2024-community-project-funding-requests"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.6285151466727257, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
