Dan Newhouse (R-WA) recognized Sunnyside residents Nellie and Frank Jaramillo with the 2016 Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute\u2019s \u201cAngels in Adoption\u201d award. November is National Adoption Month, and Rep. Newhouse honored the Jaramillos for their outstanding advocacy of adoption and foster care issues.\n\u201cFor their commitment as foster parents who have also made the step to open their home by adopting children, Nellie and Frank\u00a0Jaramillo have been outstanding Angels in Adoption,\u201d said Rep. Newhouse. \u201cWe celebrate the Jaramillos, and I am proud to recognize this local family for providing a loving home for children in our community. I hope their story will be an inspiration to other families in Central Washington considering becoming foster or adoptive parents.\u201d\u00a0\nNellie and Frank Jaramillo adopted three siblings\u00a0on November 20th, 2015.\u00a0After all four of their biological children\u00a0left home,\u00a0Nellie and Frank decided to apply to be foster parents.\u00a0Nellie had previously dedicated\u00a0her time to transporting\u00a0children between their foster homes and their biological parents. She decided she wanted to do more for the children in her community and became a foster parent.\u00a0Nellie and Frank have fostered many children in the past, and many of them\u00a0now\u00a0have children of their own who know Nellie and Frank as simply Grandma and Grandpa.\nThe Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is a non-profit organization that works to raise awareness about the needs of children without families and to remove policy barriers that hinder children from knowing the love and support a family provides.
