Dan Newhouse (R-WA), was awarded the coveted Guardian of Seniors' Rights award from the 60 Plus Association because of his commitment to the elderly.
“Keeping the promises we make to our senior citizens is one the highest responsibilities of representing Washington’s Fourth Congressional District in Congress,” said Rep. Newhouse. “Preserving Social Security and Medicare and placing our country back on a fiscally responsible track are critical not only for today’s seniors, but for the generations to come.”
In a statement released by 60 Plus Association, spokesman and noted American singer Pat Boone remarked, “I’m still singing at concerts, but today I’m singing the praises of Congressman Dan Newhouse. Seniors have to balance their budgets and so should our government.
"While both programs are running deficits, seniors are not to blame," Martin emphasized. "After all, we seniors have paid into both all our working lives. We've paid our dues but seniors know why deficits face both Medicare and Social Security. For example, Congress raids the annual surpluses from Social Security to pay for other government programs, leaving nothing but trillions of dollars of IOUs.
"On behalf of 7.2 million seniors that 60 Plus looks to for support, seniors know you’re in our corner.
